Underwater Archaeology

Saturday, 22nd March 2008:
Weaving with Willow
11am to 4pm

Learn about coppicing your own willow and hazel, watch demonstrations and get ideas for creative crafts from a skilled local basket-maker and hurdle-makers.  Please note this is not a workshop. Fun for all ages.

The Crannog Creperie: All Day Iron Age Breakfast 11am - 4pm

Breakfast with the Ancients! Cook and eat your own Iron Age crepes or pancakes from our clay ovens.

Affordable Housing for Birds:Building Nest boxes for the Woods

Demonstrations on how to build cosy homes for our feathered friends. Booking essential. Includes tour of crannog. 12-3pm.

Annual Celtic Food & Drink Festival
11am - 4pm
A fusion of flavours: prehistoric cooking meets modern organic and local food. Sample some of Perthshire's finest inspired by underwater discoveries of Iron Age food remains. Tastes include spit roast beast, smoked fish and dairy products, nutty breads & spreads, herbs, and range of suitably themed beverages.
There's plenty to do while you wait to taste...try out archery, woodturning, and more!Normal admissions apply. Kindly supported by the Highland Perthshire Herb Society

 

Sat-Sun, 10/11th May 2008:
Festival of Nettles
Time: 11am to 4pm.
Special range of exhibits, hands'-on crafts, and foods celebrating the multi-talented nettle plant. Learn how to process nettles to spin the fibres. Waste not, want not! From string to soup, free facts and recipes, this weekend offers something for everyone. Normal admissions apply.

Monday, 26th May 2008 - Fun with Fibres 11 -4:00pm.
This spinning, weaving, and dying gala day is inspired by underwater discoveries of ancient textiles. Try your hand at rope-making, watch weavers at work, make a dye-bath, spin colourful yarns or grasp the nettle to make string. Discovery & Hands-on fun for all ages. Normal admissions apply.
