Underwater Archaeology

Unless otherwise stated, all events are an optional extra and take place at the Scottish Crannog Centre. Most cost £3 or £4 over the normal admission price. Normal admission includes entry to the exhibition, guided crannog tour, and standard hands-on crafts. If visitors wish to participate in one of these daytime events only, without a crannog tour, the cost is normally £5 per person. Booking is not required unless stated. To book: tel. JUNE - Perthshire Archaeology Month
NEW! Experience Iron Age adventure. From early June, logboats/dugout canoes will be available for hire by the hour for friends,families, and small groups! Tel. 01887-830583.

Sunday, 13th June: Celtic Plants & People: Lotions, Potions, & Incense 11am -4pm. Learn about traditional ancient remedies, healing herbs, and natural incense. Plenty of testers and tasters.

Week of 21st June: Celtic Re-enactors, Stamm Alauni, from Austria and Germany demonstrate a range of Bronze Age weapons and crafts. Monday through Wednesday 11am-5pm.

Monday, 21st June:
Concert in the Crannog & Celtic BBQ
:Celebration of the Summer Solstice. 8pm-11pm.
Celebrate the longest day in Scotland's most intimate musical venue. Soak up the Iron Age atmosphere around a log fire with regional artists playing Scottish music in sessions, so everyone can take turns between house and refreshment marquee. Places limited so book early. Iron Age BBQ included! Lamb stew, barley risotto, and other Iron Age delicacies, plus real ales. Booking essential. tel: 01887 830583 or email: info@crannog.co.uk. Sat-Sunday, 17th-18th July:
Go Native! Ancient Technology Fair

Demonstrations of ancient skills including wild cooking, cordage, hide-tanning, wood-working, fibre-working and more. Crafts for sale. Meet Wilderness Skills instructors. 11-5pm.

AUGUST

 

Sunday, 1st August: Celtic Summer Harvest Fair 11-5pm.

Try ancient ploughing, sow seeds, and make corn dollies,  herb garlands, wreaths and baskets. Crafts for sale. Tickets £4 and booking recommended.

Sunday, 8th August 2010:
Iron Age Olympics

CANCELLED. We are sorry but we have had to withdraw this event. We may offer it again in 2011.
