Underwater Archaeology

Unless otherwise stated, all events are an optional extra and take place at the Scottish Crannog Centre. Most cost £3 or £4 over the normal admission price. Normal admission includes entry to the exhibition, guided crannog tour, and standard hands-on crafts. If visitors wish to participate in one of these daytime events only, without a crannog tour, the cost is normally £5 per person. Booking is not required unless stated. To book: tel. JUNE
NEW! Experience Iron Age adventure. Weather permitting, logboats/dugout canoes will be available for hire by the hour for friends,families, and small groups! Tel. 01887-830583.

Monday, June 4th: Festival of Nettles 11-4:30 Enjoy this special day of fibre work, food and fun. Demonstrations and exhibits, nettle fibre processing and spinning, textile art, and all kinds of nettle food, drink and toiletries. Normal admission fee + £3; or £5 if event only

Saturday, June 16th: Prehistoric Fun Day at Perth Museum Join us in Perth for a day of ancient crafts and technologies from lighting fires to using ancient drills to make jewellery to take home. Specialists will be on hand for metalworking and prehistoric pot-making. Fun for all ages.  

Thursday 21st June 2011:
Misummer Music: Solstice Celebration 8-11pm
Watch the sun go down with Scottish music and soak up the magical atmosphere ‘round the fire in our Iron Age loch-dwelling. Real ale tent and covered seating outdoors for session breaks.  Booking essential. Tickets £12.00.

 

 

JULY

 

 

July 20th - 22nd: Go Native! Ancient Technology & Cooking Festival

Talks, Re-enactors, Demonstrators. Activities include bronze casting, making fish traps, cordage, birch bark tar, open fire cooking and more.  Normal admission fee + £4 or £6 if event only.

 

 

AUGUST

 

Sunday, August 12th: Lughnasa Summer Harvest Festival

11am – 4:30pm. Try ancient ploughing, sow seeds, learn about prehistoric farming, make herb garlands, make your own harvest rolls in our clay ovens and enjoy a storytelling session.

Normal admission fee + £4 or £5 if event only.
