Saturday, 6th September: The Little Dig: Sandpit Archaeology: Try your hand at trowelling for clues to the past. Learn how to record your finds and what to do with them. Fun for all ages. 12 to 2:00pm. FREE, but booking essential.

Saturday, 6th September : Come & Try Snorkel Archaeology - Celebrating Scottish Archaeology Month
Take the plunge! Try out mask & snorkel and finding and recording artefacts in a mini-tank. Only head and hands get wet, and no experience is necessary. Suitable for ages 7+. FREE, but booking advised. 2-4pm.

Sunday, 7th September: Ancient Archery Tournament Competitions for children aged 7+ and adults.  No experience necessary. Simple longbow-style only. A qualified archery instructor will guide your aim to hit a range of targets. Tournament entry fee: £5 per participant. 11am-5pm. Pre-booking recommended.  

Sunday, 21st September: Prehistoric Pot-making Get creative with clay and learn how to make simple pots and finger-paintings. Hand’s on fun for all ages. 11am - 4pm.

 

 

Sunday, 12th October: Prehistoric Pyrotechnia - Lighting up the Iron Age Strike a spark and discover the many methods of fire-making without matches and the best tinders available. From friction to fir candles, there's something to warm everyone! 11am - 4:30pm. Also: Iron Age Bread Making Learn the ancient art of making bread.  Find all you need to know about baking in clay evens and spreads for your bread.

 

Sunday, 19th October : Bracken Festival Major bracken harvest featuring wizard willow wands, wicker sculptures to stuff, and fairy crowns. Bring a sack full of bracken, wet or dry, for discounts on admission and free prize draw entry. You'd be surprised what you can do with bracken! Free Factsheets. Time: 11am to 4pm.

Wednesday, 31st October : Spooks and Sacrifice
Annual Celtic Samhain Festival

Come dressed in costume and help us celebrate this ancient Celtic Halloween festival. Bring a lantern to keep evil at bay and join our short torchlit procession through lochside woods. Watch our wicker ram burn in ceremonial sacrifice, and enjoy carved lantern competition, storytelling, apple-ducking, hot soup, and fire shows. Booking essential. Entrance by ticket only. Time: 6pm to 8pm.

Sunday, 9th November: Iron Age Archery Discover simple longbows and arrows and try your skill at hitting the target. Tickets £5 per 30 minute session. 11am-3pm. Booking advised.  

Sunday 16th November : The Wind in the Willows Creativity with hazel and willow for your home, woods, or garden. Demonstrations of hurdle-making, basketry, ornaments, and more. Hands-on fun for all ages. 11am to 3pm.

Sunday, 30th November:
Annual Wild Harvest Food and Drink Fair

Ward off the cold! Celebrate Autumn Gold and our last day of the season featuring meat on a spit, hot cordials, organic meats, nutty breads and spreads, authentic soups, and more. Tea/coffee/cakes also available. 11am to 3pm. Also today: The Dyer's Den Learn about native dye plants, how to use them to extract colour, and how to create your own dyed swatches. LAST DAY OF OPENING IN 2008!
